Inverness, located where the River Ness empties into the Moray Firth, is the largest city in the Highlands, with a population well into the thousands. Inverness Castle sits on a hill overlooking the city, on a site originally built by MacBeth.

The city hosts four Fairs each year, and has been granted four Royal Charters by William I. It is also subject to occasional raids, mainly by the Norse.
